About

UniformKilo.com is all about sharing the fun of learning to fly helicopters, a life-long process, and the extreme adventures you can have in them.

Whether you’re a student pilot, a helicopter owner, an adventurer, or an instructor, you’re welcome to join in with your views and experiences.

I’m a helicopter instructor, and I have been flying since 1984.Helicopter lessons in Cambridge

First fixed wing, at Biggin Hill and Peterborough Conington, flying mainly Cessna 152s and AA5As.

Then the two-seat R22 helicopter came along, and I saw the opportunity to overcome the main sticking points of flying a private aeroplane; the need for 500 yards of grass or concrete and a clear blue sky to be available every time you want to use it.

A 35 hour conversion course, in ten days, at Oxford Air Training School gave me my PPL(H) in the pre-Beta R22s.

Over 1000 helicopter hours later, in R22s, B206s, and my favourite, the Robinson R44, I have flown throughout the UK, Europe, USA, and even to Australia following the Amy Johnson route. I now hold a CPL(H) and an Instructor Rating.

I offer safe exciting trial lessons for those who want to give it a go, rewarding PPL(H) courses, and “further training’ to those wanting to make the most of their PPL(H).

If you’re a recently qualified PPL(H) looking for someone safely to help you safely expand your experience, I’m available as a safety pilot, drawing on my many years flying helicopters in the UK and around the world.

Some of the video material on UniformKilo.com is my own, and I will add to it as I shoot more.

The rest is my favourite stuff from around the world. If you have some material to suggest, whether instructional or extreme adventure, please get in touch.
